My Signature Sweater - The Classic Textured Baby Cardigan

I made this baby cardigan yesterday...

The first time I made this cardigan, it took me almost a month. Granted, I made it for my then 6 year old daughter so it was a larger size, but still, it took me a month. The pattern was published in the November/December issue of Crochet Today.

Yesterday I made this sweater in a day. This is the cardigan which perhaps shows me how far I've come with my crochet. It has become my signature sweater.

I have sold more of these sweaters in my Etsy shop than any other item.

I suppose that's why I made this particular sweater yesterday. I am currently making items for a craft show in March. Craft shows are a gamble for me. Will I sell enough product to cover my booth fee? Will I sit there all day and not sell a thing? I far prefer custom orders where I know an item has a home before I make it. These sweaters though... I'm pretty sure they'll find a home - if not at the craft fair, then online.

There's something about them that appeals to me. Perhaps it's the classic line and versatility. Or, perhaps it's the squishy textures. I tend to make the things that I love and I love these sweaters!

I love the act of creating; the making of something out of "nothing." The yarn comes alive in my hands and takes form and that is what is so exciting. I'm sometimes asked why a woman that punches a time clock at three figures an hour would spend a whole day creating a sweater that sells for $30 but this is exactly why. I love the process of creating beautiful things.
